has served as a member of the clergy of the United Church of Christ since being ordained in the St. Louis Association in June of 1978, an ordination that also has been officially recognized by the United Church of Canada and the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). A native of Chicago, Tom attended Elmhurst College (IL) where he attained in 1974 a Bachelor of Arts in Theology and the Fine Arts. Completing his Master of Divinity degree at Eden Theological Seminary (St. Louis) in 1978, Tom received his doctorate in 1988 from the Faculty of Religious Studies at Canada's preeminent McGill University (Montreal), majoring in the fields of Systematic Theology and Christian Ethics.
He has taught undergraduate and post-graduate courses of study in various theological disciplines and has offered pastoral services to congregations in the Montreal area, Metro Chicago, Miami, St. Louis, Northern Kentucky/Cincinnati, Salt Lake City and most recently in Louisville, Kentucky. He is presently engaged as an Intentional Interim Pastor at the Church of Christ at Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire.
Tom has also served within the governance and strategic planning of major faith-based health and human service networks and various not-for-profit organizations. He has been a hospital and hospice chaplain and has engaged in advanced training to become a certified Church Administrator, Conflict Mediator and Intentional Interim Minister. In recent years, Dr. Nordberg has completed several units of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE).
